The Four Seasons: Summer (detail)

Image by Emily Barney via Flickr

It’s Summer Solstice today and this day marks a 4 universal day where celebration abounds. This is so synchronistic because the number 4 represents the 4 cycles of the world and the 4 seasons of the year. Interestingly enough 2011 is a universal 4 year.

In the Tarot, Wands represent the summer season and the 4 of Wands represents celebrations. There is a sense of harmony today – the feel of the summer winds and the smell of summer air brings about a natural harmony and contentment inside of us. Today there is a rhythm of natural summer patterns all around us. Notice the garland hanging above the couple who are celebrating a joyous occasion and also holding garland in their hands above their heads. Garland has been used in many cultures over many centuries during times of celebrations. Summer is one such season to have many celebrations during this yearly cycle – family vacations, and gatherings such as picnics and barbeques. Summer Solstice marks the beginning of summer and is a date that is marked on most calendars and celebrated all over the world.

4 – The Number of Foundations and Creation

The 4 represents foundations on all levels and stability in our home and in our life.  Earth was created on the 4th day of creation and anything to do with the earth falls under the vibration of the 4. The 4 is a square that symbolizes boundaries inside 4 little lines – a safety net when the world becomes frenzied and we crawl back into our little square and get back to basics.

In a personal 4 daily cycle there is opportunity today to build or refurbish your own foundation – physically, emotionally and spiritually. What are you waiting for? Build, create, stabilize!
